Kadokawa has released a new trailer for Season 3 of The Rising of the Shield Hero, giving fans a glimpse of the upcoming arc. The trailer shows Naofumi and his companions embarking on a quest to the country of mercenaries, Zeltoble, in search of the other four heroes and survivors from Lurolona Village. The minute-and-a-half video also features a sample of the season’s opening theme “SIN” performed by MADKID.
Season 3 of The Rising of the Shield Hero
The trailer introduces several new characters who will play important roles in Season 3. This includes the Orca therianthrope Sadeena, voiced by Ami Koshimizu, as well as the demi-human siblings Fohl Fayon and Atla Fayon, voiced by Kohei Amasaki and Konomi Ohara respectively.
Director Hitoshi Haga, known for his work on storyboarding previous seasons of the anime, will be taking over from Masato Jinbo as the director for Season 3. Many staff members from previous seasons will be returning, including Keigo Koyanagi as the series composer, Kota Sera as the chief animation director, and Sana Komatsu, Franziska van Wulfen, and Masahiro as the character designers. Music composer Kevin Pekin will also be returning for the upcoming season.
The Rising of the Shield Hero is based on Aneko Yusagi’s isekai light novel series. It follows the story of Iwatani Naofumi, a normal college student who is summoned to a fantasy world as one of the four legendary heroes. Tasked with fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero, Naofumi is betrayed and loses everything. He then employs a slave named Raphtalia and sets out to overcome his desperate situation.
Season 3 of The Rising of the Shield Hero is set to premiere in October 2023. The previous seasons are available to stream on Crunchyroll.
