The sibling bond between Portgas D. Ace and Monkey D. Luffy in the popular manga and anime series One Piece has been showcased in a stunning pair of genderswapped cosplays. These costumes, uploaded on Reddit, transform the appearance of the two infamous pirates and give their outfits a feminine twist. The cosplays feature Luffy’s iconic straw hat and Ace’s orange cowboy hat, staying true to the characters’ signature headwear.

These cosplays are not the only recent examples of gender-bending within the One Piece fandom. Another fan favorite character, Sir Crocodile, has also inspired gender-bending cosplays. One of these cosplays gives off a powerful and authoritative vibe, while another is captioned “Luffy’s Mom.” This particular cosplay reflects a popular theory within the fandom that Sir Crocodile is not only a transgender man, but also one of the parents of Luffy, along with Monkey D. Dragon. This theory is supported by various hints in the series, such as Sir Crocodile’s actions during the Summit War and his connection to Emporio Ivankov, a character from the Okama Kingdom who has the ability to control hormones with his Devil Fruit powers.

One Piece, created by Eiichiro Oda, has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump since 1997. It is currently the best-selling manga of all time, with over 1,000 individual chapters released so far. The most recent volume, Vol. 103, even claimed a top spot on the New York Times Bestsellers list for graphic books. Oda has confirmed that the story has entered its final saga, known as the “Egghead” arc, and has expressed his desire to have fun with the finale, stating that he feels he has reached a point where he can do whatever he wants with the story.

In addition to the exciting cosplays and the upcoming finale of the manga, One Piece fans have more to look forward to. Netflix is set to premiere a live-action adaptation of the series at the end of the month, with promotional material teasing what viewers can expect. There is also an ice skating show called ONE PIECE ON ICE ~Episode of Alabasta~, which is currently being performed in Japan and depicts events from the Alabasta storyline. The show features talented skaters, with Olympic silver medalist Shoma Uno leading the cast.
