Tamashii Nations has started accepting preorders for a collectible figurine of Seto Kaiba’s iconic monster, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon, from the popular anime and trading card game franchise Yu-Gi-Oh!. The figurine, which stands just under nine inches tall and features multiple points of articulation, retails for $140 and comes with “Burst Stream of Destruction” Effect parts, allowing fans to recreate scenes from the anime or artwork from the cards. The Blue-Eyes White Dragon collectible is set to begin shipping in February 2024.

This new figurine is just one of the recent products that pay tribute to the late Kazuki Takahashi’s work and specifically highlight the monsters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise. Animate released a special apparel collection earlier this year, featuring T-shirts, stadium jackets, and hoodies inspired by classic creatures like the Blue-Eyes White Dragon and the Dark Magician Girl. Some items also showcase fan-favorite characters like Kaiba and Yami Yugi.

In addition to merchandise, fans can also enjoy the Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel game, a free-to-play title that allows players to digitally play Duel Monsters, collect cards, and battle opponents. The game, which was released last year, can be played on various platforms including PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and mobile devices. It offers the potential to bring iconic tournaments from the series, such as Battle City, to life.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise originated from Takahashi’s manga, which ran from 1996 to 2004 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump. The story follows high school student Yugi Mutou, who becomes the vessel for an ancient spirit after completing the Millennium Puzzle. The anime adaptation, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, aired from 2000 to 2004 and consisted of over 200 episodes. The English dub featured voice actors such as Dan Green, Vinnie Penna, and Eric Stuart.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Yu-Gi-Oh!, and several events and festivities have been held to celebrate the franchise. The Yu-Gi-Oh! Legendary Collection for the trading card game, which contains reprints of six classic booster packs, has been a notable release. However, some of the reprinted cards have been plagued with errors and misprints, including parts appearing in different languages.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! manga is distributed in North America by VIZ Media, and the anime adaptation can be streamed on platforms like Crunchyroll and Hulu.
