It’s possible that Colin Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin, will be the movie’s antagonist. The series will show him rising to the top as a crime lord. The Batman and Penguin will have different approaches to helping Gotham. With the former becoming the symbol of hope and the latter looking out for his own interests. There’s also a political element to the story. With Bella Reál as the mayor in the wake of the city’s flooding.

One wild card is Barry Kogan’s version of The Joker, who briefly appeared in the first movie with hints of his character’s trademarks. With both the Joker and Batman in the same Elseworld, there’s potential for an interesting conflict.

The Battison’s return is part of a larger plan to streamline the DCEU and explore unique stories while connecting the multiverse. With James Gunn and Peter Safran leading the way, the future of the DCEU looks bright.
