From July 31 to August 6, HBO Max has a lineup of new TV shows and movies for subscribers to enjoy. One of the highlights of the week is the release of all seven episodes of season 2 of “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” on August 6. The HBO Original drama series delves into the professional and personal lives of the 1980s Los Angeles Lakers players.
New HBO Max TV Shows and Movies
The show, created by Max Borenstein, stars John C. Reilly, Quincy Isaiah, Adrien Brody, Jason Clarke, Gaby Hoffmann, Jason Segel, Hadley Robinson, DeVaughn Nixon, Solomon Hughes, Tamera Tomakili, Brett Cullen, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Spencer Garrett, Molly Gordon, Joey Brooks, Delante Desouza, Jimel Atkins, Austin Aaron, McCabe Slye, Thomas Mann, Gillian Jacobs, Michael Chiklis, and Rob Morgan. Borenstein also serves as the showrunner, executive producer, and writer.
In addition to “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty,” there are other new TV shows and movies being added to the Max schedule. These include the first season of “Mother May I Murder?” on ID and the first season of “Survive the Raft” on Discovery, both premiering on July 31. Other notable additions throughout the week include movies like “A Hologram for the King,” various installments of “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” “American Gangster,” “Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday,” “Love Is Strange,” “Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms,” “Ocean’s Eight,” “Star 80,” “They Died with Their Boots On,” and many more.
On August 3, HGTV’s “House Hunters” will premiere its 200th season and “House Hunters International” will premiere its 172nd season. Season 2B of “Vlad and Niki” will also be added to the Max schedule.
On August 6, the Magnolia Network’s “Big Sky Kitchen with Eduardo Garcia” season 2, ID’s “Evil Lives Here” season 14, and Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America: Love at First Bite” season 26 will be available for streaming on Max.
While HBO Max has a lot to offer in terms of new content, other streaming platforms also have exciting releases. For example, Netflix subscribers only have until August 31 to watch “Mean Girls” before it leaves the platform. Paramount Plus will premiere the latest season of “Billions” and “The Chi” on August 11, and “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” is coming to the platform as part of the July 31-August 6 lineup. Amazon Prime Video will have “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart” as the top title for the week, and Disney Plus will feature “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “Star Wars: Visions.”
