Marvel has finally released the first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which includes the first glimpse at Jonathan Majors’ Kang.
Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) confronts Kang the Conqueror in the first Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania teaser (Jonathan Majors). The Ant-Man franchise will return early next year to begin off Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The core creative team returns for Ant-Man 3, with director Peyton Reed returning to close out the trilogy. The MCU’s lighthearted attitude is changing with the threequel, which has been regarded as darker in tone. Given the film’s inclusion of Kang the Conqueror, this is an understandable change for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Since Marvel Studios named Kang as the villain in the Phase 5 film, there has been a lot of anticipation for Ant-Man 3. Jonathan Majors’ debut as He Who Remains in Loki season 1 quickly established him as a fan favorite villain, but Marvel’s plans for Kang include formal returns in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Kang’s objectives in Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania are yet unknown. There is also speculation that Evangeline Lilly will reprise her role as Wasp and Kathryn Newton will take on the character of Cassie Lang, who will become a superhero.
Marvel Studios has already unveiled the first teaser for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will be released in February 2023. The trailer establishes the narrative of the film, in which the Ant-Man crew returns to the Quantum Realm and encounters Kang the Conqueror. The Ant-Man 3 teaser reveals Kang and his vast army while also hinting at the final battle between Ant-Man and the multiverse-level menace. The clip also verifies Bill Murray’s participation.
Kang Becomes an Even Bigger MCU Villain in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s Trailer
The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania teaser focuses on several aspects of the sequel, the most significant of which being the appearance of Jonathan Majors’ Kang. The trailer presents this Kang version as someone who may be more of a friend than a threat. He can be heard arranging a bargain with Ant-Man to send him and the rest of his family home safely, but what Kang wants in return is unknown. The hint that Ant-Man may assist Kang is simply another indication of how dangerous he is to the MCU, since Ant-Man 3’s trailer shows he has a vast army to back him up and could lure Scott Lang into assisting him.
Because Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is only a portion of Marvel’s Kang ambitions, the film will be crucial in helping the MCU build up Jonathan Majors’ major villain for the Multiverse Saga. After encountering a calm version of Kang in Loki, it appears like Ant-Man 3 will feature a significantly more menacing version of Kang. Kang’s history of murdering Avengers was teased in previous Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania footage. This might allow the sequel to be the point at which fans realize just how scary Kang is to Ant-Man and the other Avengers.
