MGM has released the first clip from its upcoming R-rated teen comedy, “Bottoms.” The film follows high school seniors Josie (played by Ayo Edebiri) and PJ (played by Rachel Sennott) as they start their own fight club to lose their virginities to cheerleaders. The clip shows the two girls in the principal’s office after hitting the most popular guy in school with their car in self-defense.

After premiering at the SXSW Film Festival, “Bottoms” is set to hit select theaters on August 25. The film is described as a “refreshingly unique raunchy comedy” and revolves around Josie and PJ’s fight club gaining traction and the most popular girls in school beating each other up in the name of self-defense. However, the two protagonists find themselves in over their heads and in need of an exit strategy before their plan is exposed.

“Bottoms” is directed by Emma Seligman, who co-wrote the screenplay with Rachel Sennott. Seligman and Sennott previously worked together on Seligman’s 2020 directorial debut, “Shiva Baby.” The cast also includes Havana Rose Liu, Kaia Gerber, Nicholas Galitzine, Dagmara Dominczyk, and Marshawn Lynch.

The film is produced by Elizabeth Banks, Max Handelman, and Alison Small, with Ted Deiker serving as an executive producer. It will also feature music from Charli XCX and Leo Birenberg.

With its unique premise and talented cast, “Bottoms” promises to be an entertaining and comedic exploration of teenage sexuality and the lengths some may go to in order to fit in or achieve their desires. The R-rated nature of the film suggests that it will not shy away from explicit content, further adding to its appeal as an edgy and boundary-pushing comedy.

The release of the first clip has generated anticipation for the film, and audiences can expect a mix of humor, coming-of-age themes, and unconventional storytelling. As more trailers and promotional materials are released leading up to the film’s premiere, fans can look forward to gaining a clearer picture of the comedic and emotional journey that “Bottoms” will take them on.
