In a recent episode of Real Housewives of New York, Brynn Whitfield, a marketing consultant, opened up about her difficult childhood. The other housewives noticed that she seemed isolated and sad around the holidays, prompting them to organize a special dinner called Brynnsgiving to show her love and support.

Initially reluctant to talk about her past, Brynn tearfully shared her story during dinner. She revealed that her parents, who were very young when they had her and her siblings, didn’t provide them with a loving and nurturing environment. She described experiencing abuse and neglect during the short time they lived with their parents, noting that they were primarily raised by their grandmother.

Court documents obtained by The U.S. Sun shed light on Brynn’s painful past. Her birth father, Alton Duane Whitfield, had a history of legal troubles, including writing bad checks, theft, burglary, retail fraud, and possession of a controlled substance. He passed away in 2003 at the age of 51. Despite his difficulties, he managed to turn his life around and even earned a PhD from Bridgeport University.

Brynn’s mother, Jill Marie Mitchell, also faced legal troubles when Brynn was just six months old. Jill went to prison in 1987 for various charges, including violating credit card laws, writing bad checks, and committing fraud theft. She was in and out of prison for several years before finally being discharged in 1992. During this time, Brynn and her siblings were placed for adoption.

After her release from prison, Jill got married and had four more children. While she managed to stay out of trouble and raise her new family, she never reconnected with Brynn and her siblings, who were being raised by their grandmother, Darlene. Brynn and her siblings eventually drifted apart as adults and remain estranged from each other.

Darlene, Brynn’s grandmother, played a significant role in her life. She sent the children to good schools and provided them with a stable and loving home. However, Darlene passed away in March 2021 at the age of 81, and due to the Covid pandemic, there was no funeral service to bring the family together.

Brynn’s brother is believed to be living in South Korea, while her sister is still in Michigan. Despite their difficult upbringing, Brynn’s relatives believe that she should try to reconnect with her siblings. The episode ended with questions about Brynn’s tough childhood and whether she should make an effort to rebuild her relationship with her brother and sister.

Real Housewives of New York airs on Bravo, and Brynn’s story has provided a glimpse into her challenging past and the impact it has had on her life.
