Comic Natalie has reported the release of a new tie-in video game for the popular manga series Chainsaw Man. The smartphone game is a celebration of the release of the 15th volume of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s ongoing manga. It features an 8-bit aesthetic and a high difficulty level. In the game, players take control of Denji and Asa Mitaka as they try to escape the Falling Devil on a bike.
Chainsaw Man, which debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump in December 2018, has gained a huge following and has become one of the best-selling manga in history with over 26 million copies in circulation worldwide. The manga follows the story of Denji, a young man burdened with his late father’s debt and forced to take on dangerous jobs. It focuses on the Public Safety Division, a government organization that hunts down and eliminates devilish threats.
Chainsaw Man is considered part of the “Dark Trio” of modern shōnen manga, along with Jujutsu Kaisen and Hell’s Paradise. It has received numerous prestigious awards, including Best Shōnen Manga at the 66th Shogakukan Manga Awards and Best Manga at the Harvey Awards in 2021 and 2022.
In addition to the video game release, Chainsaw Man fans have more to look forward to. Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo has announced a collaboration with the series, launching a special apparel line featuring designs by Kosuke Kawamura. The collection includes T-shirts and sweaters featuring characters like Denji, Pochita, Power, and Makima.
Furthermore, the anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man by MAPPA is now available to stream on Crunchyroll for free. The series has been added to Crunchyroll’s ad-supported version, along with other popular shows. Crunchyroll also offers paid subscriptions that include ad-free viewing and more access to its extensive catalog of anime episodes and films. Although not officially confirmed, rumors suggest that MAPPA’s Chainsaw Man series will receive a second season and a film adaptation.
The Chainsaw Man manga is distributed in North America by VIZ Media. With the release of the video game, the collaboration with Uniqlo, and the availability of the anime on Crunchyroll, the Chainsaw Man franchise continues to expand its reach and captivate fans worldwide.
