A cosplayer named witchhazel_cosplay has created an impressive cosplay of San from Studio Ghibli’s film Princess Mononoke. The costume perfectly captures the character’s wild appearance, showcasing her unique blade and signature facial markings. The cosplayer has also created stunning cosplays of other popular characters from franchises like The Witcher, League of Legends, and Attack on Titan.

Princess Mononoke, a historical fantasy film set in Japan’s Warring States Period, was released in 1997 and became one of the highest-grossing anime movies of all time. Directed by Hayao Miyazaki, the film tells the story of Ashitake, the last Emishi Prince, who gets caught in a conflict between humans and spirits. Even after almost two decades since its release, Princess Mononoke still has a dedicated fan base that continues to create their own fan-made content, showcasing their love for the movie.

Apart from cosplays like witchhazel_cosplay’s San, there are other remarkable fan creations inspired by Princess Mononoke. One example is a vibrant rug featuring the character’s iconic red mask, and another is an eerie black-and-white portrait of San, known as the Wolf Girl.

But fans of Studio Ghibli have more to look forward to than just fan-made content. The upcoming Ghibli Park is set to feature a new attraction based on Princess Mononoke. Called Mononoke Village, it will open to the public later this year and include a statue of the boar god Okkoto-nushi, which also functions as a slide. Ghibli Park already has other attractions inspired by films like My Neighbor Totoro and Whispers of the Heart.

Furthermore, Hayao Miyazaki’s latest film, The Boy and the Heron (also known as How Do You Live?), premiered in Japan in July and will be released in North America later this year. It is the first Studio Ghibli project to receive an IMAX release, and despite minimal marketing, it performed exceptionally well at the Japanese box office during its opening weekend.

Fans of Studio Ghibli can also enjoy streaming many of their beloved classics, including Princess Mononoke, on Max.
