The first four episodes of Jujustu Kaisen Season 2 have focused on the backstory and friendship between Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto. These episodes explore how Gojo became powerful and how Geto turned against non-sorcerers. The upcoming August issue of Newtype magazine features the two characters when they were still students at Jujustu High. The first few episodes of Season 2 show that Gojo and Geto were top students who often worked together on missions. They are eventually assigned to protect the Star Plasma Vessel, a mission that tests them in unexpected ways. By the end, Gojo becomes stronger than ever, while Geto takes a stand against non-sorcerers.
Jujutsu Kaisen has quickly become a fan-favorite series since it was first serialized in 2018. The manga, created by Genge Akutami, gained popularity for its characters, story, and non-stop action. The success of the manga is notable, with over 80 million copies in circulation. Season 1 of the anime follows the story of Yuji Itadori, who becomes the vessel of the King of Curses, Sukuna. He is recruited by Gojo into Jujutsu Highschool and trains alongside Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki to protect the innocent from curses.
Yuji continues his training under Gojo and reunites with his friends during a Shonen tournament arc. The season concludes with a battle between Gojo and Geto, setting up Season 2 to explore their past relationship when they were both students. MAPPA, the animation studio behind Jujustu Kaisen, is also responsible for other popular anime such as Attack on Titan, Chainsaw Man, and Vinland Saga.
The second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, known as the Shibuya Incident Arc, is set to release on August 21st.
