Manta Comics has announced that Leeanne M. Krecic, the creator of the popular webcomic Let’s Play, will be joining the platform with a new series called Dragon King Oath. The 100-episode original series is set to premiere in late 2024 and will be exclusively available on Manta Comics. This marks the first major creator to join Manta Comics from another platform, as Krecic was previously published on WEBTOON.

Dragon King Oath is set in a world where an oath binds kings and dragons together, requiring the king to send one of his royal daughters to the dragon in exchange for protection. Princess Lisette Wylgerent becomes pledged to a dragon named Raith and uncovers secrets about the true nature of the relationship between dragons and humans.
Krecic expressed her excitement about joining Manta Comics, describing it as “more than just a digital comics platform.” She praised the committed and collaborative team at Manta and the supportive community that has enjoyed her work. She is eager for everyone to see what’s next.
Sungho Lee, the Head of Business Development for the U.S. and Europe at Manta, also expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. He stated that Krecic has an extraordinary fan base and that they are confident her fans will be captivated by her latest creation.
Let’s Play has been incredibly successful, accumulating over 7.5 million subscribers since its publication in November 2017. The webcomic has received numerous accolades, including an Eisner nomination for Best Webcomic and a Ringo Award. It is also the top best-selling graphic novel on Amazon.
Krecic, also known as “Mongie” to her fans, announced that she would not be returning with Season 4 of Let’s Play on WEBTOON. She stated that she felt the platform did not value her work or her as a creator.
Fans can look forward to reading Dragon King Oath exclusively on Manta Comics in late 2024.
