The focus is mainly on the protagonist, the Medicine Seller, a nameless wanderer. The trailer also introduces the new voice actor for the Medicine Seller, Hiroshi Kamiya, known for his roles in anime series such as Attack on Titan and One Piece.

It is unclear if the film will adapt one of the arcs from the anime series or feature a completely new story.
In addition to the upcoming film, Mononoke has also inspired two manga adaptations. The first was published in Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine from 2007 to 2008, while the second, titled Mononoke: Umibōzu, was serialized in Tokuma Shoten’s Monthly Comic Zenon from 2013 to 2015.
For those interested in watching the original Mononoke series, it is available for streaming on Netflix. Physical copies of the show were also released on DVD in North America in 2014.
