The popular anime series That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime has announced that its third season will be released in the spring of 2024. This announcement comes after the success of the series’ first movie, Scarlet Bond. The official website and social media channels of the series have also shared plans to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the franchise.
That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime is a series that falls under the Isekai genre, a genre that involves a character being transported to a different world. The story revolves around a Japanese corporate worker named Mikami Satoru who dies and is reborn as a slime in a fantasy world. Despite being reborn as a low-level monster, Satoru, now known as Rimuru Tempest, uses his human intelligence and natural abilities to become one of the most powerful monsters and build a kingdom where different races can coexist.
To celebrate the franchise’s 10th anniversary, a brand new short story written by the series’ creator Fuse will be released, along with a manga adaptation by Yuzo Takada, the author of 3X3 Eyes. A three-part OVA based on the Coleus’ Dream side story will also be released in the fall of 2023. Additionally, a stage play adaptation is scheduled to begin performances in August 2023.
Fans of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime are eagerly anticipating the third season of the anime. The teaser visual released hints that the season will focus on Rimuru’s battle with Hinata Sagakuchi, one of his strongest opponents since becoming a Demon Lord. It is likely that the season will adapt the seventh volume of the light novel series, titled Saint-Monster Confrontation.
That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime has been influential in popularizing the Isekai genre and continues to grow in popularity 10 years after its initial release. With the recent success of Scarlet Bond, the upcoming anniversary celebrations, and the announcement of the third season, fans have a lot to look forward to in the world of Rimuru and his adventures. Both seasons 1 and 2 of the anime are available to watch on Crunchyroll.
