VIZ Media has announced that it will be hosting several Junji Ito-themed events at San Diego Comic-Con 2023. The manga publisher will be co-sponsoring two panels, both hosted by Ito himself, that will delve into the artist’s body of work, including iconic stories such as Uzumaki and Venus in the Blind Spot. In addition to the panels, VIZ will also be hosting the largest North American art exhibit dedicated to Junji Ito, featuring over 100 pieces of artwork. This will be an opportunity for fans to see the artist’s work up close and personal.

One of the panels, titled “Horror at the Library: Junji Ito,” will be a Q&A event where Ito will answer fan questions about his life and career. The second panel, titled “Welcome to the Ito-Verse: Junji Ito,” will explore the artist’s inspirations and personal horrors. Attendees of this panel will also get a chance to see Ito in action as he draws something terrifying for his fans. Both panels will take place during the convention on July 20 and July 21.

In addition to the panels, there will also be an art exhibit showcasing Junji Ito’s work. The exhibit will be located at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina and will be open to the public from July 20-23. This will be the largest exhibition of Ito’s work in North America, with over 100 pieces of artwork on display.

Junji Ito is a highly acclaimed manga artist who has won four Eisner Awards for his work. He is known for his horror manga stories, which often revolve around supernatural and body horror themes. His latest work published in North America is Tombs: Junji Ito Story Collection, which was released in March of this year. The anthology collects several of Ito’s stories, showcasing his mastery of the horror genre.

One of Ito’s upcoming releases is Soichi: Junji Ito Story Collection, which features the recurring villain Soichi. Soichi is only 11 years old but specializes in Black Magic, using it to manipulate those around him. However, his schemes often backfire in comical ways. Soichi has appeared in several previous anthologies and is set to have his own story collection released on July 25.

English-speaking fans of Junji Ito can find his works, including Tombs and other releases, from VIZ Media.
