Marvel Studios has released the soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, also known as Awesome Mix Vol. 3. The Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, directed by James Gunn, has been known for its carefully curated set lists of songs that perfectly complement the characters’ adventures. The previous films featured music from the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s, but Vol. 3’s soundtrack includes more modern songs.

The soundtrack consists of 17 songs that are part of Awesome Mix Vol. 3. James Gunn incorporated the songs into the film’s script and provided the actors with a playlist to help them understand the music’s impact on their characters. Gunn mentioned that choosing the songs for this installment was particularly challenging due to the vast music library at his disposal.

Some of the songs in the soundtrack include “Creep (Acoustic)” by Radiohead, which plays in the film’s opening moments; “Crazy on You” by Heart, featured during Adam Warlock’s introduction; and “Since You’ve Been Gone” by Rainbow, which plays in the trailer and when the Guardians head to the Orgoscope to save Rocket.

Other songs in the soundtrack include “In The Meantime” by Spacehog, “Reasons” by Earth, Wind & Fire, “Do You Realize??” by The Flaming Lips, “We Care a Lot” by Faith No More, and “Koinu no Carnival (From Minute Waltz)” by Ehamic. The soundtrack also features “Come and Get Your Love” by Redbone, which is a callback to one of the first songs heard in the original Guardians of the Galaxy.

Despite the opportunity to include more modern songs, Gunn primarily chose tracks from the 1970s and ’80s. This is because 11 of the songs were released before Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, left Earth, allowing for a sense of nostalgia and connection to his past.

Fans can listen to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 soundtrack on Apple Music and Spotify, and physical copies of the CD, vinyl, and cassette will be available for purchase. The soundtrack will also be accompanied by the release of John Murphy’s original score for the movie.
