Tickets for Hayao Miyazaki’s films, Porco Rosso and The Wind Rises, are now available for purchase as part of Studio Ghibli Fest 2023. The festival will feature screenings of the films in both their original Japanese versions and English dubbed versions. Additionally, exclusive scenes from the documentary series 10 Years with Hayao Miyazaki will be shown during the screenings.
Tickets can be purchased online through Studio Ghibli Fest’s website or Fathom Events’ website. Local ticket offices should also have tickets available for purchase. The screenings for Porco Rosso will take place on August 20 at 4:00 PM in English dubbed and August 22 at 7:00 PM in Japanese with subtitles. The Wind Rises will be screened on August 21 at 7:00 PM in English dubbed and August 23 at 7:00 PM in Japanese with subtitles.
After the screenings of Porco Rosso and The Wind Rises, Ghibli Fest 2023 will continue with screenings of Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away in the coming months.
The official synopsis for Porco Rosso tells the story of sky pirates terrorizing cruise ships in the Adriatic Sea during 1930s Italy. The only pilot brave enough to stop them is Porco Rosso, a former World War I flying ace who has been transformed into a pig. With the help of spunky girl mechanic Fio Piccolo and his longtime friend Madame Gina, Porco Rosso prepares to battle the pirate crew’s American ace.
The Wind Rises follows the lifelong love of flight of Japanese aviation engineer Jiro Horikoshi. His career includes the creation of the A6M World War II fighter plane.
