Clothing brand Uniqlo has announced an upcoming collaboration with the popular dark shōnen series, Chainsaw Man. They released a short promotional video on Twitter featuring the protagonist, Denji, using his chainsaws to slash the company’s logo. Chainsaw Man is an ongoing manga series by Tatsuki Fujimoto that first appeared in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump in 2018 and later moved to Shōnen Jump+ in 2020.
The manga has gained significant popularity worldwide, with over 24 million copies in circulation and numerous awards, including the Best Manga prize at the Harvey Awards in 2021 and 2022. It tells the story of Denji, a young man burdened with a large debt who takes dangerous jobs to repay it. After being betrayed and left for dead by his employers, Denji is recruited by a government organization called the Public Safety Division.
Despite its success in manga form, the anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man by MAPPA underperformed, with low sales of its home video release. This has raised concerns about the future of the series. However, rumors have emerged of a potential second season and a film adaptation, although MAPPA has not confirmed these leaks.
Fans of Chainsaw Man express their love for the series not only by purchasing manga volumes and official merchandise but also through cosplay. Some notable recent examples include a Bomb Devil costume showcasing Reze’s power over Denji and a menacing Control Devil cosplay.
The anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man can be streamed on Crunchyroll and Hulu, while the manga is distributed in North America by VIZ Media.
Uniqlo’s collaboration with Chainsaw Man is highly anticipated by fans, and the promotional video has generated excitement. It remains to be seen what kind of merchandise will be released as part of the collaboration, but fans are ready to support their favorite series.
