Sony has announced that its upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife sequel has been delayed until 2024. The release date for the film has been moved from December 20, 2023, to March 29, 2024. This decision was made in response to ongoing strikes in Hollywood, which have affected several film productions.
Release of Ghostbusters 4 postponed
In addition to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the release dates for other Sony films have also been pushed back. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which was originally scheduled for March 29, 2024, has been delayed indefinitely. Kraven the Hunter has been moved from October 6, 2023, to August 30, 2024. Gran Turismo has been postponed from August 11, 2023, to August 25, 2023. The next Karate Kid movie has been rescheduled from June 7, 2024, to December 13, 2024. However, Madame Web has been moved up slightly and will now be released on February 14, 2024.
Ernie Hudson, a veteran of the Ghostbusters franchise, had previously hinted at a possible delay for the Afterlife sequel. He mentioned that the filming had been completed, but there were rumors of a potential release date change. He acknowledged that the writers’ strike had caused some difficulties during the production process but expressed gratitude that the film had been completed.
Fans of the Ghostbusters franchise will have to wait until March 29, 2024, to see the untitled sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife in theaters.
