Terry Silver is a character that has been captivating audiences since his appearance in The Karate Kid and its sequel, Cobra Kai. After season two of Cobra Kai, Terry Silver quickly became a fan-favorite character with his malicious and calculating nature. In season five, we get to see Terry Silver make all the right moves to expand his dojo and become the villainous figure he is today. However, this season also saw the downfall of Terry Silver due to a few crucial mistakes. In this article, we will explore the biggest mistakes Terry Silver made that led to his downfall at the end of the season.
One of Terry Silver’s biggest mistakes was not deleting the footage of him talking to Tori in the Cobra Kai dojo. After Tori discovers a big secret and confronts Terry about it, he fails to erase the footage of their conversation. This mistake is compounded when Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang break into Cobra Kai to get the footage. Without this footage, Terry Silver would have been able to get away with framing Kreese for the assault on Stingray.
The second mistake Terry Silver made was being too hands-on in the assault of Stingray. Rather than hiring someone else to do the job and keep his hands clean, Terry Silver took it upon himself to beat Stingray to a pulp and frame Kreese. This was a huge mistake as it would have been much easier to keep his hands out of the situation and hire someone else to carry out the attack.
The third mistake Terry Silver made was gifting Stingray with luxury items. After the attack, Terry Silver gifted Stingray with a new apartment and car. This was a mistake as it made it much easier for people to connect the dots and realize that Stingray was being rewarded for not speaking up about the assault. If Terry Silver had instead wired Stingray money, it would have been much easier to cover up the attack.

In conclusion, Terry Silver was a captivating villain in season five of Cobra Kai due to his malicious and calculating nature. However, this season also saw the downfall of Terry Silver due to a few crucial mistakes. These mistakes included not deleting the footage of him talking to Tori in the Cobra Kai dojo, being too hands-on in the assault of Stingray, and gifting Stingray with luxury items. If Terry Silver had avoided these mistakes, he may have been able to get away with his plan and win the season.
His #1 mistake was teaching Daniel the Quick Silver Method
Burning down Mike Barnes’ furniture store was a big mistake for sure.
Burning down Mike Barnes’ furniture store was a big mistake for sure.
Bearing all of that in mind, the single most crucial error on Silver’s part in my mind was beating Daniel in the apartment. Daniel had given up, Chozen was about to leave the country, and Johnny wasn’t even sure he was going to get back involved. Not to mention Amanda had left to Ohio. Silver had won. All he had to do was accept Daniel’s surrender.
It’s not to suggest that something wouldn’t have happened to pull Daniel back into the fight, but Silver essentially moved the time table up by beating Daniel
good catch! thank you for sharing
It all comes down to Silver being overconfident.
technically Chozen won the 1v1, but that only means he's better with weapons.
In regard to the issue with TS being “hands on”, have you heard the theory that he has a terminal illness? In the prior season he turns down breakfast and his butler asks if he should call the doctor. Also, why was TS in the hospital when Johnny was? Just happened to appear when the elevator doors opened. Could have been there for a Dr. appointment and had to play the moment.
Anyway, if his time is limited, he has little to lose.
What I loved about this character is when he tells Daniel “ if you continue down this path nothing in your life will ever be the same again “ . Terry is the BEST villain in this season . He had some of the best lines ever in season 5 . He should become a Bond villain .
