Welcome to RiotPop, your source for all the latest news on your favorite shows and movies. This week, we have some exciting updates from franchises such as Star Trek, Final Destination, and more.
First up, Community fans rejoice! NBC Universal’s Peacock has ordered a feature film based on the cult classic Dan Harmon comedy series. Titled Community: The Movie, the project will provide an update on all the new happenings in Greendale and will feature the return of original stars Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Allison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong. Peacock and Sony Pictures Television made the announcement on Friday, revealing that negotiations for the movie were heavily competitive. Under the deal, Peacock has acquired non-exclusive rights to the Community’s sixth season library, which is also available on Netflix and Hulu.
Next, Final Destination 6 is taking an exciting step forward. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the franchise revival has signed up Freaks directing duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, with John Watts (MCU Spider-Man trilogy) as producer alongside Diane McGonagall. For those of you who are still scarred from Final Destination 2’s opening scene during the traffic chaos, you can rest easy knowing that the sixth installment of the franchise is in the works.
Now You See Me 3 has also tapped Reuben Fleischer as director. The third installment in the Now You See Me series will be overseen by Fleischer, who will also oversee the latest screenplay draft written by Seth Graham Smith (The Lego Batman Movie).
