It looks like fans of the hit Netflix series Cobra Kai will have to wait a bit longer to see their favorite characters on the big screen. Sony recently announced a new installment in the original Karate Kid franchise, but it won’t be related to the Cobra Kai series. This is a huge disappointment for fans of the show who were hoping to see their favorite characters Miguel, Robbie, Sam, Tori, and of course, Daniel, on the big screen.
The news comes as a surprise, as Cobra Kai co-creator John Hurwitz revealed in an interview that there was an end game to the series with feature films planned. Fans were expecting to see a direct sequel to the sixth season, but Sony decided to disconnect the series from the movie.
It would have been amazing to see the fight choreography, stories, and relationships from the show come alive on the big screen. But Sony has something up their sleeve, and we can only wait and see what it is. The new movie will be titled Karate Kid, and we can only hope that it will be as successful as the original movies.
In the meantime, fans of the show can keep up with the latest news and updates on the series and the upcoming movie. So make sure to subscribe to Riotpop and stay tuned for more movie and television news.
